Khonsa, Jun 25: With the aim of finalising the site for construction of the Zonal Hospital in Tirap district, a vital meeting was held on Thursday here at the NBF Hall attended by various stakeholders.
Besides citizens, representatives from Bunting village, students and youth representatives from all the Circles of the district and public leaders, the meeting was attended by a former Minister and Parliamentary Secretary and former ZPCs. After a lengthy deliberation, the site donated by Bunting villagers at Charju was unanimously agreed as the final location for construction of the Zonal Hospital.
The points based on which unanimity was reached were-easy accessibility of Charju for the residents of TCL districts, strategic location serving as a centre point for all major towns of the TCL region namely Deomali, Longding, Changlang etc., 24x7 water and electricity supply, availability of ample encumbrance-free land for future expansion, no objections from the locals and scope for upgrading the hospital into a medical college in future.
Discussing issues concerning the proposed Polytechnic site at Kheti and the prospect of upgrading the existing General Hospital Khonsa, the house felt the proposals to be impractical on grounds such as congestion, unfeasible topographical conditions etc. The house rejected the upgradation proposal of the existing General Hospital, Khonsa with arguments that it is already riddled with problems such as unavailability of water, electricity, paucity of space for future expansion, congested location etc.
Furthermore, a committee comprising 19 members with Ngasah Tangjang as its Chairman was formed to oversee and facilitate the construction of the hospital. Considering the popular demand of the local people, the meeting decided that a memorandum shall be submitted to the Chief Minister with copies to the Health Minister, High-Power Committee, various Ministers and the MLAs of Tirap, Changlang and Longding districts and concerned DAs.
The public memorandum has been signed by former Minister Thajam Aboh, former MLA Y. Matey, BJP President Tirap Unit Kamrang Tesia, BJP Mahila President Tirap Unit Litcha Socia, President ATWS Nokju Wanghop, various public leaders, former ZPC members and 22 others who attended the meeting.  DIPRO
