DIYUN, Jan 13: Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein while participating in the 17th Annual School Foundation Day of the Mahabodhi School here on Monday said that it is the idea of ‘Unity in Diversity’ that has kept Arunachal Pradesh going.
Despite so many tribes, religions, languages, rituals and festivals, the state is moving ahead as a unified entity, Mein said, adding that the new generation must preserve  this identity. While deliberating on the need to promote government schools like the private schools with proper facilities for ensuring a conducive  education system, he urged the teachers to play a pivotal role to prepare the next generation so that they may face the highly competitive world with confidence. He informed that for making the government effective, transparent, responsive and accountable, various measures, reforms and holistic development plans have been introduced for bringing better governance, reiterating that there will be support for promotion, protection and preservation of the rich cultural heritage of the state.
Disclosing that over the next five years state government aims to plant one crore trees and make every district a model and green district, DCM appealed for a collective effort to reach the goals. He sought support from the Bhikkhu Sangha to help in promoting local dialects in schools and temples to protect and preserve the timeless scripts, languages and traditions. While lauding the initiatives of the Mahabodhi Society for running schools and health centres in various parts of the state, he also acknowledged the contributions made by the Ramakrishna Mission, Vivekananda Mission and the Christian missionaries in state’s education and health sectors. Government would extend all possible help to such charitable societies and organizations, irrespective of their religious background, Mein assured. He also announced to incorporate and sanction fund under RIDF to improve the dilapidated road condition from Diyun to Namsai in the  next budget. Replying to a memorandum submitted by the Mahabodhi Maitri Mandala Arunachal Pradesh branch, DCM assured to look into their demands and provide every possible support. MLA Diyun/Bordumsa Samlung Mossang, General Secretary Mohabodhi Society Bangalore Venerable Bhikkhu Ananda spoke on the occasion.
Earlier, Mein inaugurated the extension building of Mahabodhi School. Chairman Mahabodhi Maitri Mandala, Arunachal Branch Diyun Venerable Bhikkhu Panyarakhita, former MLA Namsai C.P. Namchoom, DC Changlang RK Sharma, DC Namsai B.Talukdar and many other dignitaries were present on the occasion. Children mesmerized the audience with their colourful extravaganzas.
Prizes of various events were distributed to the students, parents and teachers by the DCM. DCM Media Cell
