ITANAGAR, Apr 27: Chakma –Hajong refugees will never get Schedule Tribe (ST) status in Arunachal,’ asserted junior Union Home Minister, Kiren Rijiju here today during the state level executive meeting of the Bharatiya Janata Party.

Rijiju while addressing the state BJP executives claimed that on humanitarian grounds conferring citizenship to the refugees and their settlement anywhere in India is acceptable but ST status in Arunachal is out rightly disagreeable. ‘We have also filed separate affidavit in the Supreme Court related to this matter,’ he added while asserting that the former government was never keen towards the grievances of the Northeastern states especially Arunachal on the refugee issue.

MoS further opined that the Narendra Modi led BJP government has brought unmeasured policies and programmes for all Northeastern states in last three years whereas the earlier government had failed to executive even half of it.

Speaking on the Assam –Arunachal interstate boundary issue, Rijiju opined that the people of both states have never created any boundary problems but asserted that a section of ‘migrated people’ are encroaching and creating law and order problems in inter-state boundaries.

‘Along with Chief Ministers of both Assam and Arunachal, we already had couple of meetings over the same issue,’ informed an optimistic Rijiju who said the interstate boundary issue will have a positive outcome as both the states are under BJP governments.

Further, appealing the state BJP executives to work unitedly, he urged them not to differentiate party workers on the basis of ‘old’ and ‘new workers’.  ‘All have the right to join the party and to contribute in nation building,’ he said.

‘We should shun creating hurdles in PMGSY and other projects on mere ground of contract works; it is a dream of Narendra Modi to have roads in every village and Mobile connectivity within 2019 next,’  he exhorted.

While urging the party workers to create awareness of all 93 project and policies of Prime Minister Narendra Modi led BJP government, State President Tapir Gao said ‘BJP is the party with a difference. So every three months BJP Ministers to party executives have to confer their progress report.’ He also appealed the party workers to be discipline and to avoid misusing party pads for unofficial works.

Gao, also suggested to work unitedly and to pull-up their socks for the next general election. ‘We should not take the silence of the opponent lightly and have to work hard by reaching every single person.’

Meanwhile he also informed that the state BJP is going to stage protest rally against the China’s recent illegitimate claim over Arunachal on April 29 next at Itanagar.

Among others, Chief Minister Pema Khandu, MP  Lok Sabha Tarun Vijay, General Secretary North East Zone, Ajay Jamwal and other Ministers and MLAs from the state also spoke in the day long executive meeting.
