ITANAGAR, Apr 29:In a simple yet glittering event, the 1st Foundation Day of DUआ (Dream for United Arunachal) was held on April 27 at a city hotel in the state capital.
The evening was also followed by a Thanksgiving Dinner organized by the members of DUआ in honour of the Galo Welfare Society for bestowing and honouring Chairman Gumjum Haider with the Youth Icon Award during its 18th foundation day held at Aalo, West Siang District earlier this year.
The foundation day was graced by Minister AH & Veterinary, Dairy Development etc, Dr. Mohesh Chai and President of BJP Arunachal Pradesh, Tapir Gao as chief guest and guest of honour and the GWS team led by Dr. Minge Loyi as special invitees.
Team AAPSU led by its VP(Pro) Dr. Tayuk Sonam, Team GSU led by its President Binya Ronya, former student leaders and current social figures Rago Duchok, Damik Gameh, Sikka Gapak also attended as special guests.
Dr. Mohesh Chai, after taking positive cue from the various voluntary initiatives taken by the DUआmembers had announced some support for the organization. He also lauded the NGO for its past services like voluntary donation for Dirang, Daporijo fire victims. Dr. Chai had also announced Rs. 50000 for Taman Gamnu who is currently one of the finalist at DID little masters which shall be routed through the NGO to his family members.
While appreciating the concept of conferring youth icon to individuals with distinguished service record, Gao also opined that he will take it up with the state government for initiating similar award by the state government so that such youth icons can act as ambassadors of the state and work towards pan Arunachal identity.
The foundation day was marked by colourful cultural events. Jambey Tashi, PS, RWD, who is also the chief patron of DUA thanked all the contributors and well wishers for supporting its initiatives.
