ITANAGAR, Mar 13:  Immediately a day after the announcement of manpower augmentation by Income Tax authorities  in the Northeast states  to throttle flow of black money during poll period, a meeting to discuss matters relating to income tax surveillance was held today at the conference hall of CEO’s office in capital.
Presiding over the meeting Chief Electoral Officer, Kaling Tayeng, informed that taking into account the seizure records of last elections, strong counter measures are being initiated to check all such transactions and cash movements during the poll period.
He also said that the meeting has been called to evaluate the sensitive areas so that strategies can be worked out for better manpower management and to share the standard operating procedures prepared by the investigation directorate with other departments in the field.
Additional Director of Income Tax (Investigation), Guwahati, Mridul Kumar Das, who is also the Nodal Officer (Income Tax) for North East India elaborated on duties and responsibilities of Banks, CAPF, Police, SPs, and DEOs.  
He said that any seizure of Rs 10 lakhs and above should invariably be informed to the income tax team which will be stationed at various locations of the state. Central control room of Income Tax has already been activated at Civil Secretariat, Itanagar, he added.
“Income tax officers from Guwahati would also be joining the centre by Thursday and the air intelligence for cash movements by helicopter has also been activated,” he informed. Flying squad teams and the static surveillance teams being the first contact points with public should conduct proper checking and immediately report on seizures of amount above 10 lakhs for verification by the income tax department, Das emphasized.
The meeting was attended by IGP Sunil Garg, secretaries, directors, DCs, SPs, and officers from the CEO’s office. Nirvachan Bhawan Release
