PASIGHAT, Sep 28: Union MoS for Tourism and Culture, Prahlad Singh, who is on a two-day visit to East Siang district arrived today and took stock of the efforts and initiatives by the state government to promote tourism in Arunachal Pradesh.
While attending a meeting with the officers of the departments of Tourism, Art & Culture, Research, Library and Archaelogical Survey of India (ASI),Guwahati here at Siang Guest House, the MoS encouraged the efforts to promote cultural, spiritual, adventure and eco- tourism, rural tourism etc adding that the scenic state has high potentials in the sector. He assured that all support to boost tourism in the state will be extended by GoI, adding that good connectivity is an essential requirement to boost this sector. Earlier, Secretary Tourism, GoAP, Sadhana Deori gave an overview of Arunachal Tourism and informed that state government has given priority to augment and upgrade the existing tourism infrastructures. In her PPT, Tourism Secretary informed that the state has 12 approved tourist circuits and along with land and air-based tourism, rural tourism is also encouraged to create more livelihood opportunities.
DC Pasighat, Dr.Kinny Singh in a PPT presented the district profile and the oldest centurion town of Pasighat and highlighted the rich arts and crafts, cultural heritage, major festivals of the district. She also informed of the upcoming eco-tourism event in Ledum Village and the mural paintings taken up there. Steps have also been taken for development of river front areas and trekking trails, she added. DIPRO
