NEW DELHI, May 17:

Green Arunachal Foundation (GAF) today urged the Centre to develop proper market linkage for the farmers with the mainland India to sell their produces.

GAF led by its chairman Takam Tatung and member RM Lalum, Tuesday evening called upon Minister of State for Agriculture SS Ahluwalia at Krishi Bhawan, and submitted memorandum for establishment of market for the farmers so that they can sell their produces to mainland market.

Tatung also requested the union minister to link direct market for cardamom so that the farmers can directly sell it to the main market without any involvement of middlemen.

Informing that the PDS rice doesn’t reach many parts of the state on time due to hilly and difficult terrain, GAF chairman asked Ahluwalia to provide subsidy to the farmers for jhum cultivation.

The organization further demanded for setting up of cold storage in the key areas of eastern and western part of Arunachal Pradesh including Itanagar, Pasighat, Tezu, Bhalukpong and Changlang.

Meanwhile, Tatung urged the union minister to expedite the case of 60 pages Mere Vichar written by former Chief Minister Late Kalikho Pul and take immediate action on it.
