PASIGHAT, Apr 17: The progress of various central urban flagship programmes currently under implementation in the state was reviewed today by the Secretary & Joint Secretary of the   Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs, Government of India, Durga Shankar Mishra, IAS & Kunal Kumar, IAS at the Siang guest house conference hall.

The programmes which underwent review were   PMAY(U), Pasighat Smart City Mission, National Urban Livelihood Mission (NULM), Swachh Bharat Mission etc. Both the Secretary & Joint Secretary stressed that people’s participation is vital in strengthening the lamentation of Pasighat Smart City Mission and further advocated for creating a sense of ownership among the people as partners in upgrading Pasighat to a Smart City with urban amenities in improving quality of life.

While taking stock of the status of skill development programmes under NULM (National Urban Livelihood Mission) to promote self-employment and livelihood opportunities, the duo called for focusing on local demand based trades like hospitality and others for creating self-employment for youth and urban poor of the district. Taking stock of the implementation in housing sector under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY), they lauded the efforts of the state UD department and stressed on meeting the goal of housing for all as envisaged by the Government of India.

The duo appreciated the proactive efforts of the Deputy Commissioner Dr. Kinny Singh for sustainable developmental planning for better Pasighat and visited the project sites including community toilets constructed under SBM, skill training partner facilities at Gumin Nagar, BLC beneficiaries under PMAY(U) at Jarku. They also visited the proposed river-front development site under Smart City Mission at Komlighat, Abor Country etc.

DC through PPT highlighted the components and progress made under the flagship schemes, future planning and efforts of the district administration.  

The meeting was also attended by SP, Prashant Gautam, Board of Director (BoD) Kaling Doruk, ADC(hq) Tatdo Borang, and other officials of the   Urban Development department of the state. DIPRO
