ITANAGAR, Mar 30: Day after District Magistrate issued an order to open grocery shops from 9am to 3pm with an advisory to maintain social distance, today huge movement of vehicles and public was seen on the highway and market areas defying the advisory.
Reacting to the sudden movement of vehicles and public, Superintendent of Police Capital region, Tumme Amo along with a team of police visited many police nakas in Itanagar, Yupia Junction , Naharlagun and Banderdewa.
Speaking to media, SP lamented that despite repeated pleas, public is not cooperating with the administration and police in maintaining the lockdown and social distancing.
‘It is very disheartening that for every petty reason public are coming out of their houses defying the advisories,' stated the SP. Sometimes we are also helpless because we cannot take any harsh action, as it creates bad image of police,' lamented SP Amo.
Further, he requested the public to stay at home and don’t come out unless there is an emergency.
'We are standing here day and night as a shield to protect you all from COVID -19. If anyone gets infected it will explode in the state because the public is defying the advisories and roaming in huge numbers,' he said.
