ITANAGAR, Dec 11: Capital Police has launched a drive against vehicles without number plates. On Tuesday, 72 two wheelers were caught without number plates in the various police stations of the capital complex. Out of them, 26 have been seized by police for further verification while fines were imposed on other riders. Itanagar and Naharlagun police stations were bustling with riders who had to face stiff fines or even leave behind their bikes and scooties for further verification.
SP Capital Harsha Vardhan said that the drive will continue in the days to come. He said that they may have detected some stolen two wheelers also during the process and detailed verification is going on. He appealed to all the residents of the capital complex to ensure that their vehicles have a valid registration number. He said that vehicles without number plate give an image of disregard for law on the roads and they also give rise to the possibility of criminals misusing these vehicles.
