ITANAGAR, Jan 29: The Capital Electrical Division today terminated the services of two of its casual employees following their alleged involvement in tampering energy meters. Capital Electrical Division executive engineer (E) Joram Lali in an office order issued stated that casual lineman Dilip Sharma and casual wireman Rohit Roy were found to be involved in ‘anti-departmental’ activities in general and habitual in tampering with energy meters. The duo were also found to be involved in pilferage of government revenue in connivance with certain people, added Lali.
While Sharma was engaged as a casual lineman under DDK Feeder here, Roy was serving as casual wireman under Raj Bhawan section here.
The department has been undertaking efforts to curb the illegal activities of energy meter tampering since last year and has so far brought three individuals who were found to be involved in such illegal activities to justice.
