ITANAGAR, Sep 30: As the country gears up to celebrate the 150th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi on October 2 next, Union Youth Affairs and Sports Minister Kiren Rijiju has urged the citizens to join the nation-wide ‘Fit India Plog Run’ as a tribute to the Father of the Nation.
The run is part of the Fit India Movement launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on August 29, 2019 last. In this connection, Directorate of Sports, GoAP is organizing a Fit India Plogging Run/Walk from Raj Bhawan to SLSA Complex, Chimpu which will be flagged of by the Governor at 5.30 am. It is open for all and interested citizens of the Capital Complex have been requested to take part wholeheartedly for which they must report at the Raj Bhavan Gate at 5.00 am on the said date.
Plogging involves picking up plastic and other waste from the surroundings while jogging, serving the dual purposes of staying fit as well as keeping the country clean. Newsdesk
