ITANAGAR, May 16: Acting on the direction of the Deputy Commissioner Capital Complex Himanshu Gupta, District Transport Officer C Wangsu along with his team and police today conducted checking drives at Lekhi village to detect violations of traffic rules like vehicles without proper documentation, plying permit of commercial vehicles, vehicles with tinted glass, two wheelers without helmets & number plates etc.
During the course of checking, 65 vehicles mostly two-wheelers were penalised and a total revenue of Rs 13700 was collected. Tinted glasses were also removed from about 100 vehicles. SP Capital Tumme Amo also informed that a team led by OC PS Naharlagun Minli Geyi conducted MV checking at Yupia Tinali, during which a total of 121 violators were penalized and a sum of Rs 34000 was realised as penalty under various offences of the MV Act.
The DTO while informing that the drive will continue in coming days also said that plying of heavy vehicles except school buses and IMC garbage trucks from Naharlagun to Itanagar and vice versa through NH-415 and Jollang road from 8 am to 6 pm has been banned till further order. Parking of heavy vehicles has also been forbidden along the highway within Itanagar and Naharlagun, he reminded.
Capital SP, also informed of a crackdown on Housie and other gambling activities under both IPC and Gambling Act across the capital complex. Following the directives, team of police raided 16 suspected places, 9 shops for selling Housie Tickets and seized related items, he informed.
DC stressed that District Administration will show zero tolerance towards traffic rule violators and requested the denizens of Capital Complex to cooperate with the administration and abide by the traffic rules so as to put up a collaborative effort. With DIPRO inputs
