Itanagar, Jun 13: The Capital Complex District Administration continuing with its effort to instill traffic discipline among the denizens carried out MV checking drive during which tinted glasses were removed from vehicles along with  penalization of many violators.
The drive led by CO Laxmi Dodum, DTO C Wangsu, MVI T Soni and OC Police Station Itanagar G Tassa removed tinted glasses from 280 vehicles and penalized many violators especially two-wheelers leading to a collection of Rs 27300 as penalty money. The District Transport Officer Capital Complex has also issued an order stating that vehicle owners must display proper High Security Registration Number Plates which must be in English alphabets and Arabic numerals only as per Motor Vehicle Rules, 1989.
The order also stated that number plates must be in black for private/government vehicles with red borders on top of registration numbers and Government of Arunachal Pradesh inscription and in case of commercial vehicles the background must be in yellow. But there has been a tendency among private vehicles owners to use number plates of any background as per personal choice, the order highlighted. Further, in pursuance of the Ministry of Road Transport and Highway vide Notification No S.O.6052(E) Dated New Delhi, December 6, 2018 no vehicle can be registered with the DTO without going through the procedure for obtaining New High Security Registration Plate under VAHAN 4 which has come into force since April 1, 2019.
The order further stated that ignoring the above rules tantamounts to violation of Motor Vehicles Rules 1989 with laid out penalty norms. Deputy Commissioner In-charge Capital Complex Talom Dupak has also appealed the denizens to cooperate with administration and abide by the traffic rules. DIPRO
