NAHARLAGUN, Mar 1: The business community here downed their shutters for two hours this afternoon at the initiative of Arunachal Chamber of Commerce & Industries general secretary Tarh Nachung, to mourn the sudden and untimely demise of prominent trader Ashok Chakraborty.

Chakraborty, who had suffered a stroke on Sunday last, was rushed to GNRC, Guwahati but passed away there today after serving the state for over 40 years.

Chakraborty, 65, who is survived by his wife, a daughter and a son, was most active member of state's one of the oldest NGO - Community Hall Dugra Puja Committee.

Expressing deep shock at the passing away of a well-known trader, ACCI president Techi Lala, Nachung and chief adviser Pradeep Kumar joined the mourning traders and prayed for his departed soul to rest in eternal peace.

While his mortal remains were taken to his native place Naharkatia in Dibrugarh district of Assam, a group of traders here left for Naharkatia to join the last rites.
