SEPPA, Dec 17: One person was seriously injured and at least 11 others sustained minor injuries when a bus they were travelling met with an accident near Nichum Sonam Bridge, near Seppa at around 2.15 am on Tuesday.
Around 38 passengers were travelling in the Itanagar to Bomdila Night Bus Service bearing registration No. AR-04 5698. Though there is no report of loss of life but a women passenger sustained a fracture. She has been transported back to Itanagar for further treatment.
Co-driver of the bus informed that he had to opt for the Seppa- Bomdila route due to the bandh calls in neighbouring Assam. He said the bus met with the accident as he could not negotiate a sharp turn.
Meanwhile, receiving the information the local MLA-Seppa (East)Tapuk Taku along with the district administration rushed to the spot to take stock of the situation.
He interacted with the passengers and directed the concern authority to help the victims to provide all necessary medical support.
He said that the area is accident-prone due to the curve and soon a position light signal will be installed to avoid future mishap. “I have managed an ambulance for the injured passenger. In the meantime other passengers after medical checkup will be sent back to their respective destinations,” he said.
He also thanked the SP, OC, Doctors and the medical team, Robin Hissang and the DTO for all kind of assistance provided to the passengers.
Meanwhile, an APST bus has been arranged to transport the passengers to their destination at Bomdila.
