TEZU, Jan 25: The Longpani MHS 2X200 KW capacity hydro power project at Gamliang which provides electricity to all the 12 villages under Goiliang, Hayuliang and Manchal Circles located in the interior border district of Anjaw remained collapsed since being washed out on January 13 last.
According to department sources, severity of the damage was due to chain of technical mishaps resulting in complete wash out of the entire structure. Throwing light on the incident, Executive Engineer (EE) Hydro Power Gumto Ete said the three prominent Circles which receive uninterrupted power supply from this project are reeling under acute power shortage. Anjaw district, which is also called a hydro powerhouse with self-sufficiency in electricity is incurring a huge loss, he added.
Superintendent Engineer Hydro Power Namsai Circle visited the site to evaluate the damaged MHS and details had been submitted to DC Anjaw and concerned Chief Engineer for further action.
