ITANAGAR, Oct 17: In the high-profile rape allegation case against a sitting BJP MLA from 8- Bameng ST A/C, Goruk Pordung, alleged victim and her husband have rubbished the charges made in a counter FIR by the MLA. Also, family members of the alleged victim have accused Itanagar police of playing foul and of being slow in investigation despite seriousness of the case.
While giving out details in a press conference, the victim has alleged that the accused MLA had called her to a city based hotel at around 10pm on October 12 last to discuss some issue related to Primary Health Center of the constituency.
“Beside being the local MLA, he is also our good family friend so I went there without any hesitation, However, I learnt that he was alone in the hotel room and when asked he replied that members of some NGO are also coming to attend the meeting and then he started sexually assaulting me forcefully despite my repeated refusal,' said the victim. Later, he even took my phone and threatened me with dire consequences if I disclose anything about the incident, she added.
Further she alleged that Capital police played foul by delaying registering the case and also forced her to undergo medical test twice.
Victim also alleged that police didn’t arrest the MLA despite the FIR being registered in the Women Police station.
‘My wife cannot indulge in such activities for few bucks as alleged by the MLA in his clarification letter. Moreover, it is the MLA who owes me Rs 10.98 crore which was used during the last assembly election, claimed the husband.
Meanwhile, Police has clarified that Police has registered the case as per the norms and about the double medical examination, police informed that it was lapse from the Investigation officer as IO failed to collect some important samples that is important in such cases and it was done with consultation of the victim.
MLA Bameng was arrested today but released on bail later as he obtained Interim bail from the court.
“I have nothing to say now. However law will take its own course of action and truth will prevail soon,' said the MLA over phone.
