ZIRO, May 18: The Apatani Youth Association commenced its 45th year celebration today with pomp and gaiety.
The occasion was graced by the Indian football legend Bhaichung Bhutia who arrived here the previous evening. Bhaichung visited a few places like Pechi-Putu, the venue of Ziro Festival of Music, Naara Aaba Wine Factory, the first organic wine producer in the country and also engaged in a karaoke session with the AYA team.
Bhaichung also conferred the AYA Awards-2019 to outstanding achievers who had excelled in their respective fields. Mudang Omo (Marathoner) & Tailyang Cosy (Footballer) won in the category of Sports. In the category of Discovery, Punyo Chada won the award for discovering Apatany Glory Moth. In Film category, Subu Gambo who is an actor, director, producer and singer himself and recently adjudged the Best Actor and Best Playback Singer for his film "Oha...e" during Arunachal Film Festival won the award. Talo Potom received the award in the Administration category for his bold steps taken for beautification of the Capital Complex.
Bhaichung in his speech promised to help and give his support to the talents from the valley, be it in sports or any other field. He also agreed to give chance to the Under 16 players in his Bhaichung Bhutia Football School.
The celebrations will conclude on May 19, the day when AYA was founded in 1974. AYA Press Release
