Itanagar, Jan 22: The much anticipated Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) Bidang Fighting Championship (BFC)5 was held at the Sports Resort, below Waii International Hotel, Itanagar on Sunday. BFC 5 was organised by Bhabajeet Choudhury, founder Bidang Fighting Club (Guwahati), Ganga Tachang, local promoter and owner of the Sports Resort in collaboration with Arunachal Pradesh Police (APP). The event was also supported by the Department of Sports, Govt of Arunachal Pradesh, Waii International Hotel, Heema Hospital and TRIHMS as the hospitality and medical partners.
In the main event of the BFC 5, Kasieta Kubanchychebekov of Kyrgyzstan defeated Kevin Wendell Church ll of USA by Technical Knock Out (TKO) in the second round of the match.
It was a fine night for the Indian international MMA fighters, as Mridul Saikia (India) finished off his Russian opponent Abdullaev Vagif in style by TKO in the second round of the co-main event of the night in the bantamweight category.
The thrilling catchweight bout between Jeko Laishram (India) and Jhon Ayodeji Shinkaiye (United Kingdom) ended in a draw. However, Sagnick Gupta (India) went down to Mansur Gitinov of Russia in the welterweight encounter.
The BFC 5 also saw good performances from all the Arunachalee fighters. Daughter of the soil, Sonam Zomba put up a fabulous show by defeating her opponent Shalinee Singh (Uttar Pradesh) in the strawweight bout. She won her match by earning a unanimous decision from all the judges. Sonam was one among the crowd favourites. 
In the other matches, Monjit Yein and Damdo Dulom both from Arunachal Pradesh representing Bidang Fight Club defeated Sagar Kashyap (Maharashtra) and Ireipak Pongsumbam (Manipur) in the strawweight bouts respectively.
DGP Anand Mohan, was among the attendees of the event along with a host of other dignitaries.
Earlier, Rohit Rajbir Singh, SP Capital, presented a short video on the campaign for the fight against Drug menace in the state by the Arunachal Pradesh Police.
