ITANAGAR, Feb 4: Governor of Arunachal Pradesh today attended the 36th Foundation Day of Rajiv Gandhi University, Rono Hills, Doimukh in the university campus on 4th February 2019 and extended his greetings to the university fraternity.
Commending the administration, faculty, staff and students for their achievements and new initiatives taken up by the RGU, he also appreciated them for felicitating the dedicated and sincere employees and theGaonBurahs of nearby villages.
Reiterating that for a university to progress and succeed, there must be proper academic environment, he called upon all stakeholders to make concerted efforts to make Rajiv Gandhi University one of the best in the country.Governor also emphasised on transparency, accountability, honesty and correct utilization of fund in the infrastructure development of the university.Campus must be maintained encroachment free with discipline,safety and security on the premises and no-entry for drugs, cigarettes and liquor must be ensured, he said.
Talking about the academic activities, the Governor said that while organising seminars, conclaves, workshops, symposiums and academic meets, organising committee must take care not to be extravagant and stresson the qualitative aspects of the discussions and interactions instead.
Governor advised the faculty members to take regular classes and interact with the students asfriend, philosopher and guide. He also advised the students for cent percent attendance, research and innovative activities,paper writing and presentations , beside taking part in sports and co-curriculum activities.
Stating that the Placement Review Committee for ensuring high campus placement of the students, comprising the Professors of Rajiv Gandhi University, North Eastern Regional Institute of Science and Technology and National Institute of Technology and government senior officials, and institutional ranking improvement which has been set up by him has finalized its report to be presented to the Chief Minister and his council of ministers soon for further streamlining .
Governor advised the students to be entrepreneurs and job providers by availing start-ups programmes. As a gift to the university on the occasion of 36th Foundation Day, he assured of commissioning of a National Cadet Corps Unit in the university and also felicitated the dedicated employees on the occasion.
Vice Chancellor, Rajiv Gandhi University, Prof SaketKushwaha briefed on the challenges and achievements of the University in the last 35 years.
