3rd Bharat Lok Sangeet Arunachal Utsav connects with youth
ITANAGAR, Nov 10: The third edition of Basar Confluence, popularly known as BasCon, a celebration of art, music and culture of Galo tribe is all set to kick start in the confluence of Hei and Kidi River at Basar in West Siang from November 19 to 21 next.
Addressing a press conference at Arunachal Press Club here, Doni Riba, Publicity In-charge BasCon, informed that the three-day cultural extravaganza would be a complete package for revelers and tourists’ alike featuring plethora of art, music and culture of people of Basar area in particular and Galo tribe in general.
As part of the festival, a community traditional fishing event would be organized at Si River where hundreds of people are expected to participate, informed Doni adding that during the day-long programme visitors can try their luck in traditional fishing.
Apart from showcasing of myriad cultural performances by the different tribes of Arunachal Pradesh and Northeast, performances by music maestros like Barmer Boys, Fiddler’s Omak Komut Collective and Nikom Riba will add more flavor to the festival, he added.
Some of the other attractions at the festivities include Live Museum, Cycling for Nature, Treks and Nature Trails, birding trip on November 17 and 18, live weaving competition, storytelling stall-where visitors can listen to the folklore of Galo tribe and participation in the harvesting of paddy in the field with locals.
Informing that very objective of Basar Confluence is to boost the socio-economic condition of people through cultural tourism, Riba claimed that peoples’ enthusiasm has become 10 times from the previous two editions.
He informed that in order to make it an environment friendly festival, the Organizing Committee this year has totally prohibited the use of plastic in the festival ground. On being asked about the accommodations, Riba informed that there will be no problem.
