PANGIN, Feb 28:A district consultative committee meeting for Siang district for the quarter end of December 2017 was held here today under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Rahul Singh and attended by ADC Pangin Tamik Talom, bank officials and heads of departments.
Addressing the participants, the DC stated that such meetings serve as a great platform not only to assess the performance of the banks but also to put forth various problems facing the banks which impedes their performance.
Seeking explanation regarding irregularity in conduct of Financial Literacy Camps, he directed all banks to conduct monthly FLCs and also hold sensitisation camps so as to promote awareness among the people about all government sponsored schemes and loans available.
Describing banks as being service oriented, he urged all Bank Managers to give utmost priority to serving the people and to motivate them to avail its services so as to achieve financial inclusion in real sense. He directed that no applicant for beneficiary schemes should be denied loans, rather they should be encouraged.
Performance under the Annual Credit Plan (ACP) 2017-18 of all the banks in the district was reviewed. Position of Aadhaar seeding and total number of Aadhaar seeded accounts, FLC status for the closing year of 2016-17, NPA status of PMEGP etc for the district were also reviewed and discussed.
Analysis of priority sector advances in the district for agriculture, Industries and service sector and assessment of progress in the status of various Government sponsored schemes like PMSBY, PMJJBY, APY, PMMY etc was done.
Issues like urgent need for a Treasury in the district, problem of Internet connectivity hampering service delivery, acute shortage of staff etc were also discussed.
