NAHARLAGUN, Feb 12: Bank of India, Naharlagun Branch under its Corporate Social Responsibility activity today donated a good number of patient’s beds, examination tables and metallic waiting chairs for the use of cancer patients at Tertiary Cancer Centre, Tomo Riba Institute of Health & Medical Sciences, Naharlagun. The items were received by Director Health Services Dr. M Lego, on behalf of the Health Department from Zonal Manager, Bank of India (BOI), Guwahati, Amitabh Banerjee,. Dr. Verma lauded the efforts of Bank of India for providing the necessary items which will immensely benefit the cancer patients.
The function was also attended by Dr. Moji Jini Director TRIHMS, Dr. RD Khrime Director Medical Education, Dr. Hage Ambing Chief Medical Superintendent, Takhe Yakang Branch Manager BOI Naharlagun, doctors and staffers of TRIHMS. It is pertinent to mention that TCC is the only centre in the entire state providing Radiation Therapy, Medical oncology, Onco-Surgery, Gynaeco- oncological surgery, Pain and Palliative Care services to all its patients. Besides Chief Minister’s Free Cancer Chemotherapy Scheme is in full swing which is providing huge relief to cancer patients. So far 877 patients have benefitted from the scheme.
The TCC is also connected to the NCG (National Cancer Grid) through high speed fibre-optic Jio network connection to 150+ Cancer Centres in entire country including the Tata Memorial Hospital, Mumbai which was provided by Tata Trusts free of cost. Doctors of TCC interact with other doctors nationwide to discuss difficult cases, their experiences with newer drugs and approaches in Oncology in Virtual Tumor Board wherein most national and international journals and institution-based studies in the field of oncology are available free of cost for the users.
