Ziro, Oct 25: The 5th edition of the State Level Bamin Tani Memorial Badminton Tournament 2019 got off to a colourful start today here at the Multipurpose Indoor Stadium, Hapoli.
Altogether, 186 shuttlers are participating in various categories including Open and Veteran categories of the tournament that will continue till October 27 next. Addressing the opening ceremony, Honorary General Secretary, Arunachal Badminton Association (ASBA) Bamang Tago appreciated the alumni batch of 2007-08 of Dani Kunia Government Higher Secondary School for organizing the tourney and promoting the game among youths and students. Remembering Late Bamin Tani, the schools’ former principal and on who’s name the tournament is organised, Tago urged the participants for a one minute condolence prayer. Appreciating the potentiality of Ziro, he also stressed on infrastructure development and road connectivity so that other big events can be conducted here.
“Badminton is the ultimate game that has no retirement system,” ASBA General Secretary added while asking parents to encourage their children in games and sports and appealed the players to maintain sportsman spirit.
