Aalo, Jan 19: The first ever Arunachal Pineapple Festival 1.0 was organised by the All Bagra Welfare Society in collaboration with Arunachal Pradesh Agriculture Marketing Board Itanagar here at Bagra today.
Minister for Horticulture, Agriculture & Animal Husbandry, Tage Taki graced the festival as Chief Guest and Okit Palling, CEO of Arunachal Pradesh Agriculture Marketing board, GoAP as Special Guest and Er. Tumke Bagra, Minister for Industry, Textile & Handicraft etc.
Taki inaugurated various stalls and declared the festival open. Terming the it a historic day for Pushi Bango, he said the Festival will motivate and encourage the local farmers towards Horticulture. Due to the declination of Pineapple growers, the Nigmoi fruit processing factory is defunct, he said. He appealed farmers of the Pushi Bango area to grow more pineapple for national and international markets, so that the farmers can earn for their livelihood.
Taki also appealed to the farmers to start a pineapple grower cooperative society for better business and sustainable development.
Late Tojo Bagra the first pineapple farmer was posthumously felicitated by the Chief Guest as he started pineapple garden in Bagra areas during 1950's.
Chief Minister Pema Khandu will attend the Pineapple festival on January 24 next.
