Ziro, May 19: The Apatani Youth Association (AYA) commemorated its 46th Foundation Day amid lockdown on Tuesday through launching of the self-sustaining campaign titled "I am Farmer." Lower Subansiri DC Nending Chatung launched the campaign and distributed free seeds to the farmers. Deputy Director Agriculture, District Fishery Development Officer, District Veterinary Officer, District Horticulture Officer, officials of the Agriculture Department and selected farmers of Ziro Valley attended the programme. AYA President Habung Tamang while briefing the campaign’s aim said it is based on lessons learnt from the coronavirus pandemic which is the need to be self-sustaining. He regretted that despite being traditional agriculturists, dependency on other states for agricultural products and essential commodities still remains which has been proved by the scarcity felt during the ongoing lockdown. All the speakers pledged to cooperate in making the innovative campaign successful. AYA PR
