YINGKIONG, Nov 21: An awareness workshop for Anganwadi Workers and ASHAs under Beti Bachao Beti Padhao scheme was organised by the District Administration & Women and Child Development Department of Upper Siang district at the Meeting Hall of CDPO Office Jengging on November 20 last.
CDPO In-charge & Nodal Officer Beti Bachao Beti Padhao, Pakkar Nomuk highlighted the importance of the scheme and its various activities being carried out in the district. Legal-cum-Probation Officer DCPU Akoying Tekseng briefed about Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act 2005 and Prohibition of Child Marriage Act, 2006 and appealed the women folk to approach the Deputy Director ICDS Yingkiong for any assistance in case of domestic violence. While referring to Prohibition of Child Marriage Act, he advised the AWWs and ASHAs to educate the youngsters about it.
Resource Person and MO CHC Jengging Block Dr. Kentaii Pangkam spoke on the importance of antenatal check-up, institutional deliveries and immunization along with PC&PNDT Act 1994 and various schemes being implemented by the Health Department like Dulari Kanya Scheme, Janini Suraksha Yojana, etc. CDPO Aseng Borang also spoke on the occasion.
