Lazu, Mar 14: Tirap District Administration on Saturday conducted an awareness programme here which touched the issues namely economic, population & house listing censuses, coronavirus prevention, security related matters and the ensuing panchayat election.
Addressing the gathering, District Statistical Officer Nokgen Wangsu and his team lead by Community Service Centre, District Programme Manager elaborated the significance about the benefits of once-in-a decade census exercise in India. He stated all the schemes and their funding such as MGNREGA, PMAY, PMGY, vaccination, PDS, APL, BPL etc wholly depend on the census data. Medical Officer Dr. Das elaborated the precautionary measures about coronavirus and urged all to maintain hygienic life by using handwash and mask in public places and maintain one-meter distance from people suffering from fever and cough.Message from the SP was also conveyed to the gathering urging all to avoid going near the border areas. People of Lazu Circle were requested to attend the lottery of GPM, GPC and ZPM in Khonsa on March 16 at the DC office in Khonsa and were briefed about 33% women’s reservation.
This is for the first time in the history of Tirap, with Lazu in particular that an awareness programme on census was being organized by the District Administration which was attended by a large gathering. Queries made by the villagers consisting of GBs, Chiefs, public leaders, Ex- Panchayat members etc were elaborately clarified during the interaction session. DIPRO
