NAHARLAGUN, Oct 21: Global Iodine Deficiency Disorder Prevention Day was observed throughout the state on Monday with a host of activities to bring about awareness among the masses on the importance of Iodised Salt for prevention of Iodine Deficiency Disorders.
At the state headquarters, a seminar on “A Day with Salt Traders” was held for Salt traders, chaired by Dr.M.Lego, Director of Health Services at DHS Conference Hall, Naharlagun.
The salt traders were asked to stock iodised salt packets in dry covered places away from moisture and sell only Iodised Salt. It was also emphasised that lack of Iodine in Salt may lead to a host of irreversible manifestation of Iodine deficiency and therefore everyone should consume only “Iodised Salt”.
