The Department of Trade and Commerce sponsored 20 progressive tea farmers from the identified tea growing districts for an exposure tour to Darjeeling, West Bengal and Namchi, Sikkim from April 5-10 last.
The objective of the tour was to give exposure to progressive farmers about field preparation, sowing, harvesting, and farm management thereby enabling them to take up tea cultivation in a more productive way.
During their tour to three states, the team visited famous Tea Gardens and got first hand information in the process of tea cultivation.
