NAHARLAGUN, Jul 30: In a bid to prepare and train Accredited Social Health Activists (ASHAs) for the final theory examination for certification under ‘National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS)’, an eight-day refresher training on NIOS certification commenced at Naharlagun today.
Organized by National Health Mission, Naharlagun, the training is to help them receive the certificates to be able to provide legal and administrative framework within which the ASHA would be eligible and responsible for providing community level care for a range of illnesses. 
On receiving the certification, the ASHAs will be allowed to use a set of drugs and point of care diagnostics appropriate to that level of care and also provide an assurance to the community on the quality of services being provided by them. 
All together thirty three ASHAs participated in the state training. The training was chaired by nodal officer (NHM), Dr. D Padung accompanied by state trainers, district ASHA nodal officer, Papum Pare, Dr. Tania Raju, consultant RKSK (NHM), Namgey Tsering and health assistant and ASHA trainer Arun Kr. Bari. 
DMO Papum Pare, Dr. T Khampu also attended the training. Dr. D Padung advised the participating ASHAs to avail the best from the training stating that the certification will provide a legal and administrative framework within which the ASHA would be eligible and responsible for providing community level care for a range of illnesses.
Confusions if any should be put across to the trainers and sorted out immediately, he advised. He hoped all the participants pass the examination.
Dr. T Khampu, DMO Papum Pare while addressing the participants encouraged them to be attentive and sit for the examination and give their best to pass the exam.
Along with Papum Pare district, the training kicked off at two other districts viz. East Siang and West Kameng districts. Newsdesk
