ITANAGAR, May 17: State BJP has welcomed the Rs 20 lakh crore Covid-19 economic relief package which is being announced by the central government in a phase-wise manner.
State BJP President Biyuram Waghe while interacting with the media on Saturday said Rs 1 lakh crore announced as the third tranche would help reversing the recessionary trend, revive the national economy and contain agrarian distress caused due to the coronavirus pandemic. Listing out the benefits that would be particularly beneficial for Arunachal Pradesh, Waghe said the package would assist the state in making good the developmental backlog arising out of the lockdown and help in having sustainable crop promotion, building proper cold storage systems and other agri-related infrastructures.
“The state’s progressive farmers will benefit immensely from the package,” Waghe underlined while praising the central government for initiating concrete measures to protect farmers’ interests. He also mentioned that the disease control scheme announced under the package will definitely help state's livestock farmers to reduce mortality among domesticated animals, especially mithuns. The State President also claimed that so far, BJP district units through their frontal wings have distributed 30725 food packages and 5525 bags of ration including masks to the needy people all across the state.
Waghe thanked all the frontline workers such as paramilitary forces, health care officials, police, NGOs, media persons, etc. for playing a crucial and proactive role in creating mass awareness about Covid-19 in state.
