ITANAGAR, Feb 21: In the ongoing 4th Khelo India University Games, the Weightlifting Event at Rajiv Gandhi University witnessed an impressive display of strength and skill, particularly by two Arunachalee weightlifters, Liza Khamsa and Balo Yalam, who claimed the spotlight in the Women's 59 KG category by securing the silver and bronze medals, respectively. Yalam, a product of the Sangay Lhaden Sports Academy, has a track record of success at national-level championships in both junior and sub-junior
categories. Notably, she clinched a silver medal in the 59 kg category at the Khelo India Youth Games 2021, showcasing her potential on the national stage.
Liza Khamsa, currently undergoing training at the National Centre of Excellence, SAI, Itanagar, demonstrated her prowess with a bronze medal win at the Khelo India Youth Games 2022. Her dedication to training and consistent performances highlights her promising career trajectory in the sport of weightlifting.
Out of the three female weightlifters representing Arunachal Pradesh in the event, two managed to clinch medals, adding to the state's pride.
