ITANAGAR, Sep 6: Opung Jerang, Chairperson of NGO known as Iiri Leyi Demong Rampa Mohila Mondal has been awarded Swachh Bharat Award ((National) at New Delhi by President of India Ram Nath Kovind on Friday. To celebrate the collective achievement under the Swaach Bharat Mission (Grameen), DDWS organized National Swachhata Mahotsava to recognize people/department – ministries/ states across the country for their remarkable and outstanding contribution to SBM (G).
This prestigious award has been given in recognition for her active participation for spreading the objective of SBM (G). Under her Chairmanship, the Siang District attained open defecation free during the month of December 2017. She, along with the Women Self Help Group actively involved along with the department in successfully imparting the effort to sustain ODF status in their areas. Her self-help Group, IILDRMM stood first in summer internship 2019 conducted by NYSS.
The ceremony was attended by Sentum Yomcha, Mission Director-SBM(G) along with senior officials from PHE & WS Department of Arunachal Pradesh. Newsdesk
