ITANAGAR, Jan 7: A progressive entrepreneur Tana Sumpa, 35 has been awarded with National Entrepreneurship Awards 2018 by the Union Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship in New Delhi. She received the award from Minister of State of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Anantkumar Hegde on January 4 last.
A homemaker, she took training in piggery farm management from Rural Self Employment Training Institute and thereafter along with few locals registered a cooperative society in 2017, named Border Area Multi-purpose Cooperative society limited, at Hollongi.
The society is running piggery farms and fisheries with high quality breed to meet the demand for the state. Apart from supplying to retailers for household consumption, they are able to service the demands for Pork from commercial buyers, such as hotels and restaurants throughout the state. Revenues have rapidly grown to about Rs. 6 lakhs per month
Their pig breeding and fattening units are hygienically maintained and wastes effectively utilised as organic bio-fertilizer for local farmers and also used in fisheries.
The society is also helping locals, women, housewives and unemployed youth with quality training and livelihood support.
Director, RSETI, B Deori congratulated Sumpa on her achievement and expressed that her success story will inspire many women and unemployed youths to gain such quality training and livelihood support.
