ITANAGAR, Jun 20: Arunachal is going to host the National Games in 2024, Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs Mama Natung said today while addressing the first coordination meeting of the Department of Sports and Youth Affairs being organized here at Sangay Lhaden Sports Academy, Chimpu.
Addressing the meeting, Minister also divulged that he along with Chief Minister has called on Minister of State (Independent Charge) Sports & Youth Affairs Kiren Rijiju who also assured to give full sport to host National Games in the state. Besides the National Games, the state will also host Northeast Youth festival in 2020 and Khelo India Youth Games in 2022.
Natung also informed that a national level indoor stadium will be constructed soon in the state and sought cooperation from all the members of the department.
Further, he also directed the officials to constitute a team to keep vigil on all on-going projects in the state under Sports and Youth Affairs department.
“Sports is the only activity that can bring instant laurels for state  and country in national as well as in the international arena, so keeping aside our ego and internal politics lets join hands for the development of  sports,” stressed the Minister while appealing the members to give  suggestions and  feedbacks from time to time.
Further, the Minister also urged the members to constitute a committee to keep a vigil on all the on-going projects, sports activities as well as hold such coordination meeting after every four to five months. Responding to the query on “Stapled Visa” issue, Minister stated that he will surely discuss such vital issues with the Minister of Home Affairs, so that the players are not discouraged or miss international competitions.
When asked about the incentives to the sports personnel, Secretary S&YA, Dani Sulu said incentives are being provided as per norms to all the sports personalities and achievers and every year in the month of August an event will be organized where incentives and rewards will be distributed to boost their morale. Earlier, presentation on achievements, requirements as well as status of on-going projects of the department were also briefed by the officials. Meanwhile, the Minister along with all the officials inspected the academic blocks and other infrastructures of Sangay Lhaden Sports Academy, Itanagar.
The meeting was also attended by the Director Sports,Tadar Apa, Director  Youth Affairs DK Dinglow, former Chairman Sports Authority of Arunachal Bamang Tago , MLA Chayangtajo Hayeng Mangfi, District Sports Officers from other districts and others.
