ITANAGAR, Sep 14:Following PM Narendra Modi’s call to observe nation-wide sanitation programme "Swachhata Hi Seva" to commemorate the 3rd anniversary of Swachh Bharat Mission, Chief Secretary, Shakuntala Gamlin chaired a meeting to finalize the schedule at Secretariat with HoDs on Thursday.

During the meeting threadbare discussions were held regarding the Nation-wide Sanitation programme (Swachhata Hi Seva) that will be kick started from September 15 up to Gandhi Jayanti on October 2nd next.

The celebration will start by observing “Shubharambh” on September 15, wherein a sanitation pledge will be administered by the Chief Minister. On September 24, a mass social service “Samagra Swachhata” will be conducted around capital complex to mobilize the people to contribute for improvement in sanitation.

On September 24, “Sarvatra Swacchata”, large scale cleaning of hospital, schools, colleges, places of workshop, park,  bus stand etc shall be done and on October 1 next, a mass cleanliness drive in all landmarks particularly where tourist footfall is high will be carried out.

The 18-day campaign will culminate on Gandhi Jayanti on October 2 next, in which award will be given to cleanliness/swacchata champions and cleanest district/hospitals/schools etc.
