ITANAGAR, Nov 24: The just concluded 7th World Tea and Coffee Expo 2019 at Mumbai proved to be a great productive platform for Arunachal Pradesh as its various varieties of tea received wide appreciation from international buyers, also bagging orders along with.
The state was represented by Arunachal Pradesh Small Tea Growers Association led by Ex-MLA & its General Secretary Techi Hemu along with Joint Director Agriculture, GoAP Tadu Game, Tea Consultant Parveez Arshad Hussain and Tea Expert Ruhani Sandhu.
The three-day event which went on from November 21-23 was participated by over 65 companies from eight countries namely Japan, Poland, Sri Lanka, Germany, UAE, Nepal, China and host India. The small tea growers of the state showcased theirs products like Organic Green Tea, White Tea, Black Tea, Red Tea and Hand Rolled Tea being produced by seven producers. The Arunachal stall was over crowded with national and international buyers and bulk orders have been received for White Tea and Green Tea from various national and international buyers. There was a tea testing facility for all tea lovers thronging the stall along with a presentation on different varieties of tea from the state by Parveez Arshad Hussain which was well received by the visitors. Arunachal pavilion also bagged the Best Pavilion Award. An opening song during the inaugural function presented by the Arunachalee girls in traditional community attires was also an added attraction of the event.
Exposure to brand products, machineries, innovative technologies, flavours, ingredients, sweetners, packaging, certifications etc. from Indonesia, Japan, China, Australia etc. proved extremely beneficial to the small tea growers of the state, General Secretary APSTGA said, adding that the expo has opened business avenues for them on a global scale through interactions with industry leaders, government officials, manufacturers, buyers and distributors. The association has extended their thankfulness to GoAP particularly Chief Minister Pema Kandhu, Chief Secretary Naresh Kumar and Secretary Agriculture-Horticulture etc. Bidol Tayeng apart from other officials for their support.
