Shillong, Apr 3: To supplement Arunachal’s efforts in waging the Covid-19 battle, the North Eastern Council (NEC) on Friday released Rs. 3.25 Crore as a normative share to the state.
The release is in the nature of untied fund which can be utilized as a gap funding on activities relating to the pandemic not covered under the existing Central packages. The flexibility of untied funds would enable the state to respond effectively and in a timely manner as per the on-ground situation. The release would be in addition to the funds otherwise allocated by the Ministry of DoNER/NEC to Arunachal Pradesh under existing schemes.
The aid comes as a follow-up action of the detailed review meeting on March 27 last through video conferencing conducted by the Minister of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER) Dr. Jitendra Singh during which the Covid-19 challenges of the Northeast were discussed. It was decided that DoNER/NEC will provide support of Rs. 25 Crore to the Northeastern states in support of their efforts to fight the outbreak.
Minister, DoNER shared that concerted efforts are already being initiated and efforts will be made to ensure that all Northeast states are supported during this hour of need.
