ITANAGAR, Sep 30 : Arunachal Pradesh Police launched emergency response support system (ERSS) No-112. The soft launch of ERSS-112 was held at Police Headquarters by Inspector General of Police, Law & Order, Sagar Preet Hooda in presence of various police officers.
Speaking on the occasion, Hooda informed that now the general public can call or trigger an alert on 112 India SOS app to register an emergency. For Non- emergency complaints citizens can access the 112 ERSS Arunachal Pradesh web portals. Citizens can also use 112 ERSS number for any kind of emergency like, fire, medical or to alert crime-related activities.
To a query, Hooda disclosed that the project is an initiative of Ministry of Home Affairs funded under Nirbahaya scheme and implemented as a pilot project in the districts of Papumpare(City) Papumpare(Rural) and East Siang. In the second phase, the remaining districts will be covered under the project by early 2020. The official launch of ERSS will be held on November next, added the IGP.
The Emergency Response Center located in the PHQ, Itanagar will act as the control room where all distress signals are received and registered. Once found actionable, these distress signals will be dispatched by the ERC or the District Coordination Center (DCC) to the nearest Emergency Response Vehicles (ERV) present in the field which is equipped with a Mobile Data Terminal.
Further citizens can use ERSS by dialing 112, or through the website -ar.ners.in and also through Emergency Panic Alert Mobile App.
