ITANAGAR, May 4: The state government is planning to enhance its Covid-19 testing capability by setting more labs one each at Namsai, Pasighat and Bomdila.
Chief Secretary, Naresh Kumar told reporters that the state cabinet on Monday deliberated at length to increase the Covid-19 testing facilities in the state.
CS said that the cabinet felt that due to the vast geographical area of the state, it is necessary to establish more  laboratories to reduce the time taken to collect samples from the districts.
'Having more laboratories would help in reducing time invested to collect samples for testing which ultimately delays the results,' he said adding that from a scientific point of view, samples cannot be delayed for an indefinite period and should reach the laboratory within two-three days.
Kumar also informed that in the coming days, the state government is planning to set up such laboratories at least 8 more locations in the state.
The state government is currently evaluating the man power and professionals required to run these facilities and areas where all these facilities can be installed, he said.
CS also said that more ventilation and ICU facilities would be commissioned in two or three days each at Tawang, Tezu, and Ziro.
'These facilities were already commissioned and made functional in Pasighat, Naharlagun and at Aalo it is under development currently,' Kumar said.
