YUPIA, May 31:World No Tobacco day with the theme “Tobacco Breaks Hearts” was observed in a befitting manner across the state including Papumpare district headquarters Yupia today. A rally from Nyorch market complex was flagged off by Deputy Commissioner Dr. Joram Beda.
While addressing the gathering, the DC highlighted on the importance of awareness on harmful effects of tobacco and said that tobacco users should have self motivation and have strong determination to stop using tobacco products. He called upon all participants to pledge to stop using tobacco and to motivate and create awareness among more people about the dangers and health risks of using tobacco.
He also lauded the health department for organizing the programme successfully and ITBP team for their support and cooperation.
SP Papum Pare, Tumme Amo who also spoke on the occasion requested the DMO to arrange to conduct awareness on bad effects of tobacco in remote areas to educate the naive villagers and assured that Police personnel are always there to assist during any problem.
DMO Dr.Tasso Kampu Subu also said that people should be discouraged to use tobacco products which lead to several health issues.
Similar programmes were held in all the district headquarters across the state.
