ITANAGAR, Jul 11:  Chow Maha Munglang of Innao Khampti village under Diyun circle of Changlang district has been awarded as Best Fish Farmer from the State on Monday  by College of Fisheries (under Central Agricultural University, Imphal) Lembucherra, Tripura in recognition of his significant contribution and achievements towards augmenting fish production in the State. This was on the occasion of National Fish Farmers Day.

 Munglang is one of the best progressive fish farmers of Changlang district. He started his venture in fish farming activity during 1994 with composite fish culture in a small pond of 0.1 hectare water spread area and has been successfully doing the farming activity till date achieving new heights.  Currently he has established a total pond area of 1.5 hectare and practicing improved extensive fish farming of Indian Major Carps and exotic carps producing table fish of 2,400 kg per hectare per year. Apart from this, he also is rearing 10 lakh fish fingerlings annually which makes him earn a net profit of Rs 8 lakh a year.

 The State department of Fisheries recommended and nominated his name for  Best Fish Farmer Award by the Institute during this current financial Year (2018-19). Earlier, the College of Fisheries, Lembucherra(CAU,Imphal),Tripura, has also awarded two more  progressive fish farmers from the State namely  Likha Khamin of Yachuli village, Lower Subansiri district and  Jumdo Jini of Biru village, West Siang district.
