ITANAGAR ,Feb 3: The Chief of Army Staff, GeneralBipinRawat, who is on a two-day visit to Arunachal Pradesh called on the Governor of the state Brig. (Dr.) B.D. Mishra (Retd.) at Raj Bhavantoday.
A special functionconducted in the honour of the visiting Army Chief saw the participation ofthe students of Donyi Polo Mission School for Hearing and Visually Impaired, Chimpu and Rajiv Gandhi University, Rono Hills, Doimukh.
Speaking on the occasion, the Governor conveyed the goodwill of the people of Arunachal Pradesh to the General for latter’s gesture in increasing the vacancies for the Arunachali youth in the Indian Army. He also underscored the contribution of Indian Army towards the care it takes of the citizens of the state around their posts and pickets. 
The Governor also mentioned the initiative of 17th Battalion of Rajputana Rifles in Gelemo Village in Upper Subansiri, where they opened a primary school for the village tiny tots.
Handing over a report about ‘Pay Back to Society Group’ (PBSG), the Governor appreciated General Rawat’s good gesture of helping the PBSG. 
The Governor said that it is because of the Indian Army, the sovereignty and the territorial integrity of the nation are intact.
In his address, General Rawat praised the people of Arunachal Pradesh who have always helped the Indian Army in a big way. He expressed the need of the duo to work jointly innational interest. 
The General, while acknowledging the effort of the Governor for facilitating recruitment of local youth of the state said that there are many very good officers of Arunachal Pradesh in the Indian armed forces.
Appreciating the students from Donyi Polo Mission School for Hearing and Visually Impaired, Chimpu and Rajiv Gandhi University, Rono Hills, Doimukh and North Eastern Institute of Science and Technology, Nirjuli, the General advised them to preserve their cultural heritage.
The Chief felicitated four meritorious students, MihinRonya, a second year civil engineering from Rajiv Gandhi Government Polytechnic College, Itanagar,MitiPerme, a student pursuing Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from DeraNatung Government College, Itanagar, Rajiv Ranjan Ray, a final year Civil Engineering student from North Eastern Regional Institute of Science and Technology, Nirjuli andJoychenKenglang, a B. Tech third year civil engineering student from National Institute of Technology, Yupia.
First Lady of the stateNeelamMisra presented a short film on loin loom weaving to the Army Chief’s wifeMadhulikaRawat, who is also thePresident of Army Wives Welfare Association.
Participating students and artistMibiNyou presented a colourful cultural programme showcasing the cultural heritage of Arunachal Pradesh.Earlier in the afternoon, the General and his wife planted a palm tree in the Raj Bhavanpremises. RajBhavan PRO
