ITANAGAR, Jun 14:     “Govt of Arunachal Pradesh will promote production of bamboo based Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) in Arunachal”, said the Deputy Chief Minister, Chowna Mein during his interaction with Kamesh Salam, Managing Director of CanBoo, Cane & Bamboo, Chain Management Pvt. Ltd and Business Associate of AgroGas for North East region when the latter called on in his office this evening.              

Salam informed that the India’s first BioCNG technology provider, AgroGas is successfully producing CNG using agriculture residues such as straw at Pune and Nagpur in Maharashtra. The CNG will be comparatively cheaper, provide clean environment and its by-product can also be used as an organic manure, he added.

State Govt is planning to adopt a policy under National Biofuel Policy launched by the Govt of India as the State is very rich in bamboo which can be a prime source of CNG.

Salam was accompanied by Dr G Murtem, State Mission Director, National Bamboo Mission and RK Taj, Nodal Officer, APBRDA.
