ZIRO, Jan 21: Chief Minister Pema Khandu during the second leg of Arunachal Rising Campaign at Ziro today announced enhancement of wages for the labour class of the state government which is expected to bring cheer among the community.
As per a latest government order, the initial wages on appointment of the Unskilled Contingent employees/casual workers/daily labourers has been enhanced from Rs. 8,000 to Rs.10,000 per month and from Rs 9,000 to Rs 11,000 for Skilled Contingent employees/casual workers/daily labourers. This in fact is a jump of 25% in case of Unskilled Contingent employees and 22.22% in case of Skilled Contingent employees.
Further, un-skilled contingent employees after completing 15 years and above in service were getting fixed wages of Rs. 11,000 per month till retirement. Khandu’s new Year gift will now enable them to be paid Rs 13000 from 15-20 year and Rs. 16,000 as monthly wages after completing 20 years of service. Thereby, taking home additional amount of Rs 5,000 per month.
On the other hand, the skilled contingent employees after completing 15 years and above in service were getting fixed wages of Rs. 11,500 pm till retirement. Now they will be paid Rs. 14,000 as monthly wages during 15-20 year and after completing 20 years of service they will get Rs. 17000 empowering them to take home additional amount of Rs. 6000 pm.
It may be noted that the state government has around 35000 skilled and un-skilled contingent employees working in various sectors across the state including the Auxiliary Labour Corps (ALCs). At least 5000 of these contingent employees have completed 20 years in service.
It may be noted that, concerned over the apathy of those contingency workers serving beyond 20 years and being remunerated with meager wages, Chief Minister created a new slab of above 20 years and enhanced wages to Rs 5000 and Rs 6000 respectively for skilled and un-skilled contingency workers.
The Chief Minister has affirmed to bear the additional financial implications which is coming at around 100 crore on the state exchequer. He has time and again pointed that the state government is not afraid to walk the extra mile in making life easier for its employees and the working class is one of the most important sections of the government.
“Due to teamwork we have been able to achieve unprecedented growth in our revenue generation. Now it’s time for the government to give back to the team members and our working class is one of the strongest member of Team Arunachal,” he said.  CMO
