ITANAGAR, Mar 25: The last day of filing nominations for both the parliamentary and assembly constituencies of the state was abuzz with activities as many heavyweights chose the last day to file their candidatures.
At least 213 candidates filed nomination for State Assembly election and 12 for both East & West Lok Sabha seats. Among the leaders, Chief Minister Pema Khandu has also filed his nomination for the Mukto Constituency and incumbent MoS Home Kirej Rijiju for Arunachal West Lok Sabha seat along with President State BJP Tapir Gao for Arunachal East.
There are 7 candidates in Arunachal West Constituency and 5 candidates have filed nomination from Eastern Parliament for the Lok Sabha seat including leading national political parties and independent. BJP has fielded 63 candidates for State Assembly including substitute, INC- 55, PPA-6, NPP- 31, JDS-15, JDU -20 and rest are Independent and substitute candidates, disclosed Additional CEO Kangki Darang.
He also informed that 12 candidates are substitute candidates for various candidates and from different parties. Elaborating on substitute candidate, he informed that candidate from same party can file nomination, one as a main candidate and another as his substitute. In any case if the nomination of main candidate gets cancelled then the substitute candidate will represent his/her party.
Further, he also divulged that scrutiny will be held on March 26 and the last date for withdrawal is March 28. Lekang constituency has the highest number of candidates with eight nominations, informed the Addl. CEO.
For I-Arunachal West Parliamentary constituency, former Chief Minister Nabam Tuki INC, Khoda Apik NPP, Subu Kechi PPA, Jomin Nyokir Kara AIFB (All India Forward Bloc) and Jarjum Ete JDS filed their nominations today. Kiren Rijiju BJP and Rumak Jomoh IND also filed their second set of nomination papers today.
The Eastern Parliamentary constituency will also witness a multi-corner contest. Ruling BJP has refielded Tapir Gao from the seat, while former MLA JW Wanglet of Tirap from Congress party, Former MLA C C Singpho from Changlang (Independent Party), Mongol Yomso from Pasighat (People Party of Arunachal) and Bandey Mili from Roing has decided to contest from Janata Dal (S) respectively.
The 13th Itanagar (ST) Assembly Constituency will witness as many as six candidates fighting it out. They are Yumlang Achung from INC, Kipa Babu from BJP, Taba Thomas from Janata Dal(Secular), Techi Tolu Tara from NPP, Techi Kaso from Janata Dal(United) and Techi Nhagu from Janata Dal(United) as a substitute candidate for Techi Kaso.
Debutants Jarpum Gamlin NPP for 27th Liromoba, Yaba Gadi PPA for 27th Liromoba, Nyadar Loya JDS for 30-Aalo West and Minkir Lollen INC for 31- Aalo East also filed their nominations today in West Siang district. Returning Officers Atul Tayeng, S. Tikhak and C. Chukhu administered the Oath of Affirmation to all these contesting candidates.
Taba Tedir of BJP and Toko Yaram of JD(U) filed their candidatures for 16-Yachuli Assembly Constituency.Nani Ribia filed his nomination for 17- Ziro Hapoli AC on a Congress ticket. Meanwhile sitting MLA of 16 Yachuli Likha Saaya will not be contesting this time.
For 1-Lumla ST Assembly seat Jambey Tashi of BJP and Jampa Thrinly Kunkhap of NPP filed their nominations.2-Tawang ST Assembly seat saw four nominations being filed. They are BJP’s Tsering Tashi, INC’s Thupten Tempa, Thutan Nima as an INC(Substitute) and Tsering Dorjee of JD(S).For 3-Mukto ST Assembly, where Khandu is contesting, Thupten Kunphen will be INC’s choice.
Meanwhile, consequently after the filling of nomination paper by two candidates including Former Minister Dr Mohesh Chai BJP party, and Nuney Tayang from Congress party, Karikho Kri has decided to contest as an Independent candidate for the 44th Tezu – Sunpura Assembly Constituency. This constituency will witness a triangular fight.
On the last day for filing nominations in West Kameng district, RT Khunjuju from 7-Bomdila filed his candidature under INC whereas three candidates namely Tsering Sonam from 5-Kalaktang, Gombu Tsering Gonpapa from 4-Dirang and Niri Chongrowju from 7-Bomdila filed their nominations as independent candidates. Dorjee Khandu from 4-Dirang filed his nomination from JD(S).Altogether, a total of fo
