New Delhi, Nov 18: Arunachal Pradesh has been awarded the ‘Best Emerging Green Tourist Destination Award’ by ‘Travel & Leisure’ magazine at an event held here in national capital on November 15 last.
Noted film actress Dia Mirza presented the award and recounted her fond memories when she visited Arunachal and also expressed her desire to visit the state again. The awards were given to tourism departments/stakeholders in recognition of their efforts towards promoting green tourism and the winners had been decided on the basis of an online poll by the magazine through which the readers expressed their opinions.
The award is viewed as a boost to the efforts of the Department of Tourism, GoAP in bringing economic prosperity to the state, which is often cited as one of the last “Truly Unexplored” destinations in the world, through sustainable tourism.
