Itanagar, Jan 12: Arunachal Badminton Academy (ABA) was launched today here at the MLA Cottage Badminton court premises in presence of various sports personalities specially badminton lovers.
Addressing the gathering, National Coach (Junior & Sub-Junior), Badminton Association of India (BAI) Sanjay Mishra said that during his week-long stay in Arunachal he had noticed huge potential and enthusiasm among the people and youths, but proper training and guidance is required to mould them into successful badminton players. He said that ABA would cater to the needs of the budding talents and experienced coaches and technical aides will give training and assured to visit the academy as and when required. Arunachal State Badminton Association (ASBA) Secretary Bamang Tago said that although many parents want their wards to undergo training in badminton, lack of proper coaches is an hindrance and there are lots to be done. The upcoming Dorjee Khandu State Badminton Academy would also be a milestone and ABA will provide the required facilities, he added.
Registration process at ABA is underway and there would be limited batches. Initially the academy would train the children from MLA Badminton Hall and other locations would also be added in due course. ASBA Joint Secretary Tai Bagra also spoke on the occasion.
